It’s All About the Food

We love watching travel vlogs—whether it’s quick clips on Instagram or beautifully edited long-form videos on YouTube. And the ones that really stick with us? They all have one thing in common: food.
People who obsess over getting their vehicles and gear just right often bring the same care and creativity to their camp meals. Whether it’s gourmet cooking in the middle of nowhere or just a perfectly executed breakfast burrito, food is often the heart of the adventure.
🎥 Davy – Out There Overland
Davy’s latest video isn’t technically food-focused, but it might as well be. He and his buddy Andy cook up a ridiculous amount of delicious-looking food using multiple setups, including Davy’s Thunderbolt Camp Kitchen. The variety and care they put into their meals shows that food was clearly part of the point. You can also follow him on Instagram at @outthere.ol.
🎥 Marko Savic – Cooking on the Road
Then there’s Marko, a Thunderbolt customer who makes food the main attraction. He's had a YouTube channel called "It's Probably Worth Sharing" for several years. After selling his home and hitting the road in a Rivian R1T, he began filming meals inspired by the provincial parks he visited on a cross-country journey. He now has a couple of full episodes on YouTube, with highlights from his trip on Instagram at @markosavic.
🎥 Carl & Monika – Real-World Cooking Tests
Finally, we love following Carl and Monika’s channel. Carl geeks out on power efficiency, vampire drain, and clever DIY mods—but it’s Monika’s gourmet cooking that brings their trips (and videos) to life. In this episode, Carl uses a power meter with the Thunderbolt Camp Kitchen to calculate how many steak dinners a Rivian can power. Spoiler: between 400 and 500.
It’s fun to see the many different ways people use their gear, but it’s the food that always brings the story together. Whether it’s a quick tailgate snack or a multi-course meal in the wilderness, great cooking is a reminder that adventure isn’t just about where you go—it’s about how you live while you’re out there.
